I was making about $400 bucks a day which was pretty good. I just checked todays adsense stats and I made $2.90. Why did it drop? Well, to make serious bank with adsense you need to consistently add content, solicite for links (if you are blogging for adsense only, it will be pretty clear to everyone and you'll have to ask for links instead of getting them naturally), continue to expand into new markets, and keep up with the latest algo changes from the search engines. I did some of those, but not all of them and my sites slowly tanked. Today, 99.9% of my earnings come directly from CPA deals and the money is much, much better. Not only that, but I have campaigns that I barely touch that make mid $xx,xxx each and every month. No more link exchanges, no more suicide watch when the algorithms change, no more trying to add something unique to the subject of "mesothelioma" or any other boring subject for that matter.
