It’s Almost Like Christmas

Posted on May 10, 2007 in Working Online

As of lately i haven’t been doing much posting. Due to 3 reasons, Mothers day, New PC, New Server.

First off was getting some campaigns setup and ready to roll for Mothers Day. While it hasn’t been earth shattering it has been good. Hopefully those that decided to tackle it are making a nice chunk, and not just blowing dough on PPC campaigns.

Secondly, I got my new PC in. Dude I got a Dell…. Sorry i couldn’t resist :) . But seriously it was time for an upgrade for me. So I went with a Dell Optiplex 745 with Windows XP Pro (Untill they get all my programs working in Vista, i sent Bill an email about this), Intel Core Duo, 2GB Ram, 2X250GB Hard drives and ATI Video card… and the setup wouldn’t be complete without Dual 20″ Ultrasharp Monitors, plus a wireless keyboard and mouse cause I hate Wires. Picture Below.

New Computer
Lastly, I am setting up with a New Host. I am pretty excited about it cause my reliability at my last host was somewhat poor (in this market even minutes down can mean hundreds lost) BUT it was cheap so I can’t complain. After I run some tests with my new host and uptime stays I will give them a plug here or if they suck I will let you know also.

    SICK Setup Man.

I actually want to create a similar set-up with the LCDs, but I want to have the 2nd LCD feed a TV Cable Signal, any idea if that’s possible to accomplish? I haven’t really looked into it. I plan to move into my new place soon and working on wiring everything up, all that’s missing is a nice TV for the office. Fun times!

Nice Monitor, got one myself. Was it hard getting used to two lcds, and how is it now?

Yes u can watch TV on one, but would have to control it outside of the PC or get a tuner card. as the monitors are setup with HD ready. But i am too busy using it to make money to mess with trying to get it to be a TV. Although I have done some gaming on it ;)

No it was easy getting used to two monitors no IM’s poping up in the middle of while i am working they pop on the other screen so it has actually made me more efficient plus can look at code and results the same time.

*L* depending on the laptop you could be in good shape. as you can have dual monitors with laptop if yours support it. I did, with S-video extended it to me tv :)

Cool setup, I actually prefer a big screen to two smaller ones, you might check out the dell 24 inch widescreen or setting two of those up. Its so nice to have one of those going or your setup where you can view th results of what you are creating in the other screen.

btw, if you get a chance please leave a review of your new host at:

I’m curious who you are using and if you think its worth it to get a server from rackspace once you have some money coming in that needs the sites to be up to collect it?

    Ben

I looked into rackspace and there support and uptime sounded great. but they limited you to support to what they offered and if you wanted outside of that (which i did) then that extra support really doesnt help. Plus they were expensive over 400 for a VERY baseline server (cant remember the specific specs off hand) but i got a much newer and beefier server for half the cost with SO FAR GREAT support, but i am just starting to transfer some stuff over.

It is scary to see you have the EXACT setup down to the wireless keyboard and Azoogle mousepad. Did you sneak into my office and take that photo?
