I’ll have to second networking. Your success in internet marketing requires a role model and a friend to help you through it. You are going to have a hundred questions, and that friend has to like you more than the money they could make by ignoring you.

Charity never faileth.

Take the time to answer questions for newcomers, but as a newcomer, only ask after you’ve tried.

This is a great post! #4 is definitely something that most people fail to take advantage of. There is a wealth of opportunities available to those who know how to effectively network. Whether its attending conferences or simply sending an email to other online marketers, there is no doubt that networking is a key, yet often neglected, way to achieve greater success online.

I agree I have gotten complacent at times… luckily my wife prods me and asks me what new things i am working on and that gets me back going again. plus being bit by a campaign pulled or lowered payouts or burst in non converting traffic etc..

Here are a couple:

Learn from your mistakes. You WILL fail 100 times for every success. When you do, don’t just say, “well that sucked!” ask yourself WHY it sucked and what you will do differently next time. If you’re not sure why it sucked than you need to collect more stats so that you can easily pinpoint the problems.

Try new things. If you’ve been making bank creating affiliate sites, try creating a forum. Or a blog. Or an ecommerce store that does drop shipping. Chances are it won’t succeed, but you WILL learn alot from expanding your horizons.
